William Crudo Obituary

CRUDO William J. Crudo, age 80, of Stratford, beloved husband of Louise Paige Crudo, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Milford Hospital. Born in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Ida Carrafiello Crudo, he resided in Stratford for 55 years. He was a retired electrician from Remington Rand. Mr. Crudo was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea. He served aboard the USS West Virginia and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was an avid golfer, horseshoe player and bowler. In addition to his devoted wife of 57 years, he is survived by one son, William J. Crudo Jr. and his wife, Elaine, of Hopkinton, N.H.; one daughter, Geraldine Anderson and her husband, Richard, of Milford; one brother, Carmen Crudo and his wife, Marie, of Branford; one sister, Marianna Hicks and her companion, Peter Day, of Stratford; eight grandchildren, Ann-Marie Newall, Richard Anderson, William Anderson, Kathryn Leszko, Jason Anderson, Jeffrey Clarke, Mark Crudo and Jonathan Crudo; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Joseph Crudo. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, April 12, 2003, at 9:15 a.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will be in Union Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, April 11, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
