William Poole "Bill" Kellogg

William Kellogg Obituary

KELLOGG William "Bill" Poole Kellogg passed away on Monday, March 14, 2005, in The Naples Community Hospital. Fla. after a brief illness. He was a life-long resident of Westport, Conn. before he moved to Naples, Fla. in 1985 with his wife Sheila. He was born on May 29, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, to Edythe Poole Kellogg and William Bradley Kellogg. He grew up at Compo Beach and graduated from Staples High School in 1940. In 1943, he volunteered for The American Field Service and was assigned to India where he was an ambulance driver during World War II. After the War, he was an active member of The Knights of Friday - an organization of young Westport veterans committed to community service. Bill was also an active member of The Cedar Point Yacht Club where he was an avid sailor and raced Snipes. Bill married Sheila Miller Parker Kellogg in 1970. They were devoted to each other until her death this past November Before retiring to Naples, Bill was a sales associate with Bob Sports in New Canaan, Conn. Bill and Sheila loved their home in Naples, and Bill was a beloved figure in his community of Coconut River Estates. He was a loving stepfather and uncle. We will all miss his humor and wisdom, but are comforted that he and Sheila are together again. Bill is survived by his nieces and nephews, Sally Kellogg Tansey, of Naples, Fla.; William Bradley Kellogg II of Fairfield; Hope Kellogg Kokas of Holderness, NH; and Donald B. Kellogg, Jr. of Providence, RI., and his sister-in-law, Sally Deegan of Naples, Fla. He has five grand nieces and nephews, Rob Russo of Bridgeport, Kristin Deitz of Chicopee, MA, Bradley Kellogg of Washington, DC, Elizabeth Kellogg of Fairfield, and Kate Dietz of Holderness, NH. He is also survived by his step children, Ainsley (John) Walden of Shelton, WA. and Scott (Noriko) Parker of Milford; plus his brother-in-law, Charlie Miller of Redland, Calif. He had five step grandchildren, Noah Walden of Seattle, WA; Eric Walden of Olympia, WA; and Nancy, Andrew and Michael Parker of Milford. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Sheila; his parents; and his brother, Donald Bradley Kellogg. Services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at The Naples Funeral Home, 3107 Davis Boulevard, Naples, FL 34104. The family suggests donations in Bill's memory be made to The Memorial Fund at The Unity Church, Naples, FL.
