Zoe Michael Obituary
Zoe Theodora Michael, age 95, of Fairfield, loving wife of the late Peter Michael passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Olympia Nicolla Poda. She is predeceased by her brothers Louis, Nicholas, Legor, and Dr. George Poda, and sisters Vasilka Duro, Beatrice Tallcouch and Proxithea Koleci.
Zoe worked alongside her husband at their store, Black Rock Market in Bridgeport for many years. She later became the lead safe deposit representative for People's Bank in Fairfield for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a devoted parishioner of St. George Albanian Orthodox Church where she received The Herald of St. Constantine and St. Helena medal for her dedicated service. She was a member of the St. George choir and was past President and Secretary for the Teuta Ladies Society. She was well known for her baking and successively organizing the baking booth at the bazaar. Zoe was also a member of the Eastern Orthodox council. Zoe loved having her family together for all occasions and socializing with friends.
Zoe leaves behind her three children; Karen Masek (Al) of Milford, Christine Kruczek (John) of New Hartford, and Mark Michael (Beth) of Orange. In addition she leaves her loving grandchildren Matthew, Michael, and Danielle Masek, Kevin, and Jason Kruczek, Deanna Schwarz, Christopher Michael and Michael Moccia. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Dylan, Peyton, Emily and Sophie Masek, Samara and Meadow Kruczek, Zoey Schwarz, and Mila Moccia and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, August 14th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in St. George Albanian Orthodox Church with Trisagion Services starting at 6:30 pm. Friends are invited to attend the Rite of Burial on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 10 a.m. in St. George Albanian Orthodox Church, 5490 Main St., Trumbull, followed by interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. The Commerce Hill Dougiello Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport has been entrusted with the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the St. George Albanian Orthodox Church in Memory of Zoe.
