David Ovack Obituary

David E. Ovack of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 30, 2005.

He was born in Philadelphia 68 years ago on May 17, 1937. David was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elsie (Landenberger) Ovack; a brother, Donald Ovack; and a grandson, Benjamin Ovack.

Mr. Ovack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nadine (Dick) Ovack; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Aloysius Emig of Dillsburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tanya Ovack of Danville, Va.; and three grandchildren, Jason and Rebecca Emig and Jacob Ovack.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Mechanicsburg, and had served his church in many capacities over the past 40 years. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Mechanicsburg Sportsmen's Association. Mr. Ovack belonged to Harrisburg Lodge 629 F&AM of Pennsylvania, Perseverance Royal Arch Chapter 21, Harrisburg Council 7, Pilgrim Commandery 11, the Harrisburg Scottish Rite Consistory, the Valley of Harrisburg and the Zembo Shrine.

Mr. Ovack was an industrial arts teacher for 35 years. He taught in the Philadelphia School District, the Cumberland Valley School District and retired from the Big Spring School District in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and a lifetime member of the Cumberland County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

A viewing will be held Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Julia Hart Officiating.

Memorials donations can be made to his church, 132 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

I'm sorry to hear of Dave's passing.

I thank you for your note and am comforted to know that his passing was peaceful.

I think back about your family trip to Florida and am so happy that you made that effort and have those thoughts and memories.
