Eldon Bert Obituary

Born March 12, 1917, in Tulare, Calif., he was a son of the late Joseph and Ada Franklin Bert.

An accountant and water systems engineer, Mr. Bert was a silent partner in Upland Feed & Fuel and Quality Farms poultry enterprises in Upland, Calif. He also managed Grantham Water Company for Messiah College and was a participating partner in the former Bert Brothers Restaurant in Mechanicsburg.

He was a former member of Upland Brethren in Christ Church, serving on the church board and on the board of trustees at Upland College. He was a member of Grantham Brethren in Christ Church.

After retiring, Mr. Bert traveled around the world making documentary films of Brethren in Christ missions.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet Bohen Bert; two sons, Norman A. Bert of Lubbock, Texas, and Arthur P. Bert of Dillsburg; a brother, Dwight E. Bert of Upland, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in his church, 421 Grantham Road, Grantham, with the Rev. Terry Brensinger officiating.

Burial will be in Grantham Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brethren in Christ World Missions, P.O. Box 390, Grantham, PA 17017; or Messiah Village Endowment Fund, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
