Born March 31, 1917, in Versailles, Ky., he was a son of the late Howard and Martha Ann (Kidwell) Woolums and the widower of Miriam E. (Billow) Woolums, who died April 13, 1998, and to whom he was married 58 years.
A graduate of Beulah Heights Bible College in Atlanta, Ga., he was ordained in May 1940. Upon graduation, district officials of Georgia and South Carolina, appointed him "Christ Ambassador President" for both states. He also served as a Sunday School representative for the states of Georgia and South Carolina. He accepted the pastorate at the Assembly of God Church in Johnson City, Tenn., and served the Tennessee district as "Christ Ambassador President." He and his late wife traveled most of their lives, ministering through much of the United States, Canada and Mexico. Upon retiring after more than 65 years of ministry, he and his late wife owned and managed Billow's Oyster House on Spring Road in Carlisle, for many years.
He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Carlisle.
The Rev. Woolums is survived by two sons, Daniel P. Woolums and Joel D. Woolums, both of Carlisle; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at his church, 1412 Holly Pike, Carlisle, with the Rev. Chuck Kish officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.
Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the church.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
