James C. Della Vecchia

James C. Della Vecchia, age 55, of Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 1, 1962 in Philadelphia to Diane (Van Fossen) Della Vecchia.
James was a pilot in the aviation/transportation industry since 1988. He started working as a pilot for Rite Aid Corporation in 1992 and continued there until his passing. James was a do-it-yourself "Master-of-all" who could do anything he set his mind to. He loved aviation and his career, fishing, sailing his sailboat (while listening to Jimmy Buffett) and had a passion for travelling worldwide. James played the guitar and enjoyed the Blues, especially B.B. King. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Patti A. (Nord) Della Vecchia; five children, Jo Anne (husband Daniel) Reyes, Gary Novack (and girlfriend Heather), Danielle (husband Jared) Jones, Heather Della Vecchia (husband Austin) and Kelsey Della Vecchia; two brothers, Kenneth (wife Kathy) Della Vecchia and Andrew (wife Nancy) Della Vecchia; and nine loving grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Gregory D'Emma officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 238105-1942 and/or Hospice of Central Pa, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
