Shelly A. Robinson
June 2, 1931 - September 4, 2025
Shelly A. Robinson, nee Schrecongost, of Carlisle, Pa. passed away peacefully in September 4, 2025 at the age of 94, with her family by her side. Shelly was the youngest born daughter to Marie and William Schrecongost of Punxsutawney, Pa.
Shelly was the loving wife of her high school sweetheart Richard A. Robinson (predeceased in 2003) and was married to him six months short of 50 years. She was also predeceased by her brother, William Schrecongost; and sisters, Katherine Nelson and Patricia Hoffman.
She is survived by her son, Gary R. Robinson (Boiling Springs, Pa.); and daughter, Wendi K. Rice (Carlisle, Pa.); two granddaughters, Sarah M. Baratz (husband, Dr. Michael of Dover, Mass.) and Dr. Ashlee A. Turner (husband, Dr. Steve of Minneapolis, Minn.) Additionally, she has three great-granddaughters, Everly, Alana and Olivia from Sarah and Michael. She also has numerous nieces and nephews that she was very close to and cared for them as children from time to time.
Shelly graduated from Punxsutawney High School and went on to attend and graduate from the Teachers College of Indiana (IUP) with a BS degree in education, specializing in Home Economics. She then went on to teach in the Sykesville School District briefly and the Carlisle School District, both in the Junior and Senior high schools for the remainder of her teaching career, that spanned over three decades. She was the department head at the high school and was instrumental in developing a new Child Care program there, above and beyond the standard cooking and sewing classes she taught. During her career she also was a judge at the PA State Farm Show and local fairs for years. Shelly was an avid cross-stitch artist that crafted hundreds of projects, both small and large. She also delivered for Meals on Wheels for years in the Carlisle area. Additionally, Shelly and Richard were both devout members of the Allison United Methodist Church congregation in Carlisle, Pa. and were very active in their church.
A memorial service is scheduled at Carlisle United Methodist Church in Carlisle, Pa. on October 18th, 1 to 4 p.m. A private graveside ceremony for family will be held at a later date.
