Walter Roney Obituary

Walter O. Roney Jr., 83, of Carlisle, died Friday April 20, 2007, at home, surrounded by loving family.

Born May 30, 1923 in Carlisle to the late Walter O. and Mildred (Brubaker) Roney, he was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1941. Mr. Roney served as a U.S. Marine in World War II and the Korean conflict with the 6th Marine Division's 6th Tank Battalion.

Mr. Roney belonged to First United Church of Christ in Carlisle, VFW 477, American Legion Post 674 of Mt. Holly Springs, Big Spring Masonic Lodge 361 and the Harrisburg Scottish Rite Consistory.

Surviving him is his loving and devoted wife, Thelma Faye (Moore) Weyand Roney; a son, Curtis A. Roney of Mechanicsburg; daughter, Sharon O. Myers of Columbia, Md.; a stepson, Shawn Weyand and wife Michelle of Mechanicsburg; granddaughter, Amanda Weyand, Mechanicsburg; a sister, Jean E. Bistline of Carlisle; and a brother, James E. Roney, also of Carlisle.

There will be no public visitation or services. Arrangements entrusted to Auer Memorial Home and Cremation Services, Harrisburg.
