CHATTAROY, W.Va. — Christopher Anthony Whitt Fletcher, 23, of Chattaroy, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 16, 2014, at Appalachian Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Born April 24, 1991, in Logan, he was the son of Randall (Tanya) Fletcher of Chattaroy and Jackie Marcum (Shawn) Ray of Lovely, Ky.

He was employed by Double Quik at Goody, Ky., and the Tunnell Drive Inn. He attended Resolution "Rezo" Church.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Ethel Gillman Whitt and David Whitt and by one brother, Dwayne Whitt.

Other than his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Samantha Whitt and Christina Whitt, both of Chattaroy, and Danielle (J.C.) Kirk of Inez, Ky.; half-brothers, Vince and Aaron Ray,both of Lovely; half-sister, Destiney Ray of Lovely; stepbrothers, Logan Slater of Chattaroy and Thomas (Machelle) Ray of Milo, Ky.; stepsisters, Skyler Slater and Sierra (Dustin) Hamilton, both of Richmond, Ky., Kim (Kenny) Hensley of Dan's Branch, Tiffany (Joey) Gore of Virginia and Jessica Ray and fiancé, Brandon Jude, of Wolf Creek, Ky.; nieces, Madyson Hensley, Lexie Gore and Belle Ray; nephews, Levi Hamilton and Damian Hensley; grandparents, Matt and Dorsie Fletcher of Hatfield, Ky., Mary and Thomas Mann of Lovely, Dave and Cindy Marcum of Olive Hill, Ky., and Chester and Sara Gillman and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1p.m. Tues., Aug. 19, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Robinette Cemetery at Rockhouse, Ky., with Darrell Smith, Austin Hinkle, Zack Hinkle, Logan Slater, J.C. Kirk and Cory Scalf serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with special services at 7 p.m. with Earl White officiating.

I had the privilege and joy of serving Chris as AP English teacher at WHS. I thoroughly enjoyed having him in class. He was a brilliant, funny, and respectful young man. I send my deepest sympathy to all the family and friends -- especially Danielle and Samantha -- who I also taught at WHS. My heart is heavy with the news of this great loss.

There are so many words to say but I am utterly speechless.
Chris was an amazing person. He was like a brother to me but so much more than that. He was kind, intelligent, caring, and understanding. I remember the day he gave his life to the Lord, I didn't really know him, but he said to me "Well, I feel different.." And shortly after that, he became one of my best friends and we saw each other almost everyday. He was always talking about Jesus and asking some of the most outrageous questions, ones Jesus Himself could only answer.
He had the best laugh and he was always smiling, it was contagious. It didn't matter what mood he was in or you were in he could make you laugh so hard you'd cry.
It's unreal that he is no longer here in this flesh with us, and it's heartbreaking. But, I know that he is with the Lord right now, and I know that the day I am called home that he will be standing there with Jesus welcoming me home.
I love you, Christopher Anthony Fletcher. I'll see you soon.

I love you Christopher. Samantha, Danielle, andChristina...you girls hang thight ttogether. Be so glad that you we're able to finish growing up together. Thank your adoptive parents for keeping you together. I live you girls too, even though you probably don't remember me. I promise, I remember you.
