Mike Valdez Obituary

Mike Valdez, Sr., 84, of 2nd Street, Loving, New Mexico, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church.A vigil is scheduled for 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 5, 2017, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mike Valdez, Sr. was born and raised in Balmorehea, Texas in 1933 to Felix and Selsa Valdez. Mike worked various places including the refinery, the cotton gin, Hall Machine and Mendoza Welding. He owned and operated Mike's Welding Shop for 49 years. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lionel Valdez; grandson, Henry Gutierrez; brothers: Rodolfo, Rafael, Merejildo, Enrique and Fidel Valdez and sister, Herminia Dutchover. Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Juanita Valdez; daughters: Viola Gutierrez and husband, Henry; Sylvia Gutierrez and husband, Alejandro and Lyla Molina and husband, Ismael, Sr.; sons: Mike Valdez, Jr., Felix Valdez, Sr., Leo Valdez, Eszikel Valdez, Sr., and Daniel Valdez and Patty Avina; 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Ernestina Armendarez and husband, Domingo and Amelia Franco. Pallbearers will be Ismael Molina, Jr., Felix Valdez, Jr., Martin Gutierrez, Efren Gutierrez, Leo Valdez, Jr., Tyler Valdez, Michael Valdez, III, Eszikel R. Valdez, Jr. and Frankie Valdez. Honorary pallbearers are AC Rodriquez, Angel Dutchover, Valti Dutchover, Jr. Mata, David Mata, Beto Gutierrez, Raymond Rios, Henry McDonald and Ernest Mendoza.
