George Rhodes Obituary
George was born July 16, 1952 in Scottsbluff, Neb. to Paul and Augustine (Peonio) Rhodes. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Bridgeport.
George's educational pursuits began at a one room country school, where he attended through the 8th grade. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1970 and then obtained two degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
George's professional life led him first to Taylor and later to Westerville in Custer County.
He moved to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina where he worked for FEMA. George was able to pursue his passion for acting, participating in small roles and as a background actor in the thriving motion picture and television production industry there.
George enjoyed traveling abroad and sharing photographs from his trips with friends and relatives.
Survivors include his sisters, Joanna (Jamey) Pankoke of Omaha and Paula Jean Rhodes of Bridgeport; nephew Justin (Kayla) Pankoke of Omaha; great-nephew Jett Pankoke; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Cremation has taken place and a private inurnment service will be held at a later date.
Memorials in George's honor may be made to the Custer County Foundation.

Conheci George no Brasil a 11 anos atrás e viramos grandes amigos,sempre nos falávamos por e-mail,final de 2021 nós falamos a última vez em Novembro e logo perdemos a comunicação, continuei mandando mensagem até hoje que acabei descobrindo sua partida e me deixou muito triste e abalado,Perder um amigo que sempre me apoiou e ajudou em tudo,um verdadeiro amigo,que Deus conforte o coração de todos familiares e meu grande amigo como você dizia Deus te recolheu e me espera na eternidade

Dear Rhodes family,
I would like to express my profound sadness and deepest sympathy on George´s untimely passing. In 2012, I met George (known to me as Gus) on a movie production being filmed in the New Orleans area; we were both background extras and had a common interest in movies, law and government. From 2012 to 2017, Gus and I worked together on numerous Hollywood South TV/Movie productions. Gus, stood out in the movie industry and could take on any personality from serious to funny. Please know, Gus, along with the Rhodes family, are in my prayers during these challenging times. May Gus´s soul rest in eternal peace in God´s open and loving arms.
