LaDonna Hostick Obituary

LaDonna J. (Wilmoth) Hostick, 90, passed on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Chandler, Ariz.
She was born Nov. 21, 1932, to Lloyd and Leitha (Iiams) Wilmoth of Arnold.

LaDonna attended and graduated from Merna High School in 1949. She then taught at a small one room schoolhouse between Broken Bow and Lexington until marrying Robert (Bob) Hostick on Nov. 22, 1951.

LaDonna was united in marriage to Robert L. Hostick at the Merna Methodist Church, and they enjoyed 57 years together. Two children were born to this union, Deena and Steve.

The couple farmed in the Merna community most of their life, moving to Arizona in retirement after spending many winters there enjoying the sun, golf and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

LaDonna was highly active, known lovingly to her family as "Go-Go-Grandma!" She worked at The Cinderella Shop and later Images on the Square in Broken Bow, where she shared her love of fashion and people with everyone who came into the store.

She could often be found golfing on a sunny day with her husband, playing bridge and enjoying time with her many friends or loudly cheering for her Nebraska Cornhuskers.

She traveled throughout her life, visiting nearly every Presidential library with her husband, and even sharing some exciting trips abroad with her family and friends. No matter where she found herself, she greeted others with warmth and welcome that could turn any situation into a party.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her husband Robert; brother Dean Wilmoth and his wife Shirley; and her parents.

LaDonna is survived by her daughter Deena Bunzel of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; son Steve Hostick and his wife Deb of Merna; three grandchildren and one great grandchild Garrett Bunzel of Seattle, Wash., Vanessa Hostick of Merna, Rebecca Janae (Hostick) Kauffman and husband, Adam, and daughter Adeline of Lincoln; and many other relatives and friends she taught to enjoy life to its fullest.

Funeral services for LaDonna Hostick, 90, formerly of Merna, will be Wednesday March 15, 2023, at 2 at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor John Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the Merna Cemetery.
