Jerry teed off for the most beautiful round of golf in heaven on July 19th 2025, wrapping up his time on Earth peacefully, surrounded by family. He was born November 21, 1936, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, to Earl and Myrtle (Dyer) Hostick. He attended Lubbock High School, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Edwards. After graduating, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas Tech University, which led him to a fulfilling career in the insurance industry. On June 27, 1959, Jerry married Barbara Edwards Hostick. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith, love, and family. They raised two children: son, Bryan Hostick, and daughter Cathy Kirby and her husband David. In 1975, Jerry moved his family to Frederick, Oklahoma, where he worked with his brother Don at Hostick Insurance until 1994. He later worked at the Tillman County Assessor’s Office until his “retirement” in 2002, and also at Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.
He was the proud Gramps of Casey Reed and her husband Jered, and Rodney Neugebauer and his wife Ashton. His great-grandchildren—Haley, Ryse, Rylee, Brett, and Grace—held a special place in his heart, and he was thrilled to soon become a great-great Gramps to Bentley Goff.
Jerry loved spending time with his brothers Don Hostick, wife Thelma and sons Michael and Ron and Larry Hostick, wife Denise and daughters Sarah and Melissa. He treasured their time together whether it was golfing with Don or sharing a love for Texas Tech with Larry.
Jerry served his community with pride and dedication, holding roles on many local boards and committees, including the Frederick Airport, the Frederick Country Club, and First United Methodist Church, where he was a devoted member. He taught the Builders Sunday School Class, served in the Navy Reserves, a member of the Frederick Lions Club, and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He loved the simple things in life: a good walk, a peaceful day of fishing, a round of golf with friends, ice cream dates with Barbara, time with his family, and above all, his faith in Jesus.
