Leora Criffield Obituary

Leora Criffield, 97, of Broken Bow, Neb., left this Earth to be with her Heavenly Family on Feb. 7, 2024.

Leora Arlene Criffield was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Gothenburg to Lee and Nellie (Godfrey) Dishman. Her childhood was spent on a ranch/farm in the Brewster/Dunning area, where she attended country school through eighth grade.

She continued to live on the ranch until her marriage to Eli Criffield in 1946. To this union six children were born. They farmed in the Hazard area until 1955 when the family moved to a farm in the Rockville/Loup City area.

Leora moved to Sargent in 1982. She lived in different areas, but always came back to her beloved Sandhills, where she lived until her passing. She loved family gatherings and friends, to laugh and country life. She was loved by everyone she met.

Leora is survived by five children Lloyd Criffield of Loup City, Theola (Bob) Munoz of California, Lonnie Criffield of Wood River, Linda Criffield of Scottsbluff and Deb (Russ) Bonsall of Grand Island; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and sister Dorothy Dishman of Broken Bow.

Leora was preceded in death by daughter Terri Ruhe; her parents; and six siblings.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. To honor Leora's wishes, the family requests casual attire.

Memorials are suggested to Broken Bow EMT's or Broken Bow Volunteer Fire Department.
