Luther Beckett Obituary
He was born Aug. 6, 1924 in Harrison County, Ky., a son of the late Walker and Verna Price Beckett. He was a faithful and devoted member of Curry United Methodist Church, an honorably discharged Army veteran, having served during World War II, a former Rotary Club member and was the retired, Executive Vice President and CEO, of First Federal Savings Bank in Cynthiana.
A sister Edith Beckett, preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Palmer Beckett; two sons, Michael L. (Linda) Beckett, Harrison County and Darrin P. Beckett, Versailles; three grandchildren, Michael Lynn (Lisa) Beckett, Gayle Ross (Jessica) Beckett, and Amanda Beckett; six great-grandchildren, Whitney Lynn, Andrew Lane, Zacharie Ross, Bethany Madison, Samuel Ethan and Lucas Lowell Beckett, all of Harrison County.
Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. at Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Tim Thompson, the Rev. Jerry Beck and the Rev. Ray Snider. Burial will follow the service in Battle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Michael, Gayle, Andrew, and Zacharie Beckett, Donald Hill.
Honorary pallbearers: Dr. Henry Norfleet, Dr. Wilbur Wilson, Charles R. Laytart, Mark Patrick and Bill Doan.
Memorial contributions may be made to Curry United Methodist Church or the Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth, 2050 Lexington Rd., P. O. Box 749, Versailles, KY 40383.
