Dorian Butler

Dorian "Bubby" Butler, 61, of Kirkland, passed away at home surrounded by his family on October 5, 2018. The son of Melvin and Margaret (Aves) Butler, he was born on April 12, 1957 in Sycamore. Bubby was a member of the Hiawatha High School class of 1975. On May 5, 2016 he married Sharon Herold in Elgin.

For several years, Bubby worked at Kopar Industries in Elgin. In his younger years, he served our community as a volunteer on the Kirkland Fire Department. Bubby was also affectionately called the "Door Man", a title he earned by his many years of employment of Hines Lumber in Kirkland. Bub enjoyed a reputation of being able to fix, repair, or help anyone with anything, and was called upon quite often. On Tuesdays at the Chana Auction, Bubby could be seen either waiting in or loading up his truck with "finds" his wife, Sharon had purchased at bargain prices. He touched many lives through his simplicity, humor, and the joyous way he lived life. Bubby cherished his time spent hunting and fishing with his son, Jeff and canoeing with his daughter, Kelly. He will always be remembered for being a loving and devoted husband to Sharon, an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is loved and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sharon; son, Jeffery (Briana) Butler; daughter, Kelly Butler (James Moody); stepchildren, Paul, Ben (Victoria), Alex, James (Alison), Cassie (Carlo), Luke (Divina); grandchildren, Tyler and Riley Moody; step-grandchildren, Myles, Ivianna, Angelina, Krysta, Ella, Clark, and Troy; his twin sister, Doreen "Sissy" Butz and "older" sister, Karon Bell of Colorado; mother in law, Shirley Harold; nieces and nephews, Tina, Tim, Trixie, and Brianna; and a very special friend, his chocolate lab, Ember.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Melvin and Margaret Butler; father in law, Robert Herold; and brothers in law, Jerry Bell and Rick Butz.

The family would like to thank Northwestern Hospice for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Bubby's life will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Butler Farm, 4820 Kirkland Rd., Kirkland 60146 at 10:00 am.
