FRANCES L. ADKINS

1934 - 2010

Frances L. (Harris) Adkins passed away from a short illness on Sept. 22, 2010, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Ill.
Born Nov. 20, 1934, in DeKalb, to Fred and Evelyn Harris, Frances had many achievements in her life, including her barber licenses. She also worked in the restaurant/bar business with her beloved friends Ethel and Chuck, as well as a dispatcher for DeKalb-O'Hare Limo Service, working for the Scott family, who were her lifelong friends.
The family extends special thanks to The Fairview Nursing Plaza staff, The Ben Gordon Center, and the staff at Reality House and acknowledgments to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
She is survived by sons, Rick (Teresa Edwards) Adkins and Packey Adkins; daughter, Vicki Adkins; three grandchildren, Erica, Kelly and Ricky; several great-grandchildren; brother, Cliff Harris of DeKalb; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband, Monte Adkins; parents; brother, Fred Harris; two sisters, Gladys Dringenburg and Shirley Peterson; and granddaughter, Aimee Leigh Adkins.
Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, 815-636-5100; with a visitation from 2 p.m. until time of service. Graveside service is at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Highland Garden of Memories, 9800 Route 76, Belvidere.
