Died: August 2, 2025 in Austin, TX
Joshua, formerly of DeKalb, passed surrounded by family and close friends in Austin Texas. He is the son of Virgil (Buddy) Rollins and Christine (Romke) Sheikh. He is survived by his sister, Amanda Rollins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Francis & Helen Romke of Genoa, and Harry & Shirley Rollins of Cortland.
Joshua attended DeKalb public school where he found his love for music. He played the saxophone through school in the concert bank, marching band and jazz band. He also sang in the Madrigals and Acapella groups in high school. He also performed in West Side Story as Scranton Slim and Into the Woods as Jack. He was always singing in the house and had music playing. His life song was cut way too short for the amazing man he had become.
He served his country proudly in the US Army from 2013 -2016 and achieved the rank of Specialist. He enjoyed his station in Germany. He attended Montclair State University, Northern Illinois University and Universal technical Institute after serving his country. Joshua had just started his career journey in Texas working for SpaceX in Texas, an opportunity he was very much excited for. He was looking forward for the proposed travel in his future. He had an amazing group of friends that were very dear to him that he kept in touch with daily. These men were definitely considered brothers.
We are sorry for the future, cut short, with his love Catherine. Thank you for the happiness you brought into his life. He will be greatly missed. He brought so much happiness, positivity, smiles and music to everyone he met. If it was within his ability, he would do anything for anyone.
His celebration of life will be September 20th, 2025 at Bethel Assemblies of God, 131 W Elm St, Sycamore, IL 60178 from 1-4.
