Randall Gordon Obituary

Randall Ray Gordon
Born: September 24, 1961
Died: June 16, 2025
Randall Ray "Randy" Gordon, age 63, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away on June 16, 2025, at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehab Center in Shabbona, Illinois following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on September 24, 1961, in DeKalb, Illinois, the youngest son of Gilbert and Mildred (Ansteth) Gordon. Randy grew up in the nearby town of Waterman. He attended Waterman Elementary and graduated from Waterman High School with the Class of 1979. From a young age, Randy was known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor-traits that would remain central to his personality throughout his life.
Randy was a devoted husband to his wife Cathy and a loving father to his two children. His family was the heart of his world. Whether watching movies, planning trips to Disney World or baking treats in the kitchen, Randy found joy in creating memories with those he loved most.
He had a knack for bringing laughter into any room-always ready with a joke or a silly gesture to brighten someone's day. His warmth and humor left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife Cathy; his daughter Caitlin Gordon; his grandchildren Viviana and Orion English; his son-in-law Terrell English; his siblings Gerry (Alice) Gordon, Ed (Terry) Gordon, Judy Johnson and Deb Ferguson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Samantha English.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Gordon Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.

Randy we graduated together in 1979. We spent many years in different classes. I have not seen you in years but I admired the way you made people laugh. God Bless you!

It saddens me to see this. Randy was my neighbor with whom I played baseball and "pickle" with for hours on end during our childhood summers. He was the first to break the news to me that I could never play for the Chicago Cubs because I was a girl. That didn´t go over well. He had a comedic gift. He was so quick witted, and we were always guaranteed a good laugh if Randy was around.
May God bless and comfort his family and friends, and keep the memories of his smile and laughter in their heart and minds each day.
