Scott W. Montgomery, 51, of Elgin, formerly of DeKalb, Crystal Lake, Lakewood, and Lake in The Hills, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, Mc Henry IL.
He was born January 31, 1973, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of William and Pamela (Whitson) Montgomery.
At the age of 3, Scott had his father take the training wheels off his 20" bicycle, and away he went. At age 4, Scott learned to throw a ball (apples) over the fence in the back yard of his home in DeKalb, IL. He attended the Mickey Owen Baseball School in Miller, MO in 1990.
Scott attended Kansas State University briefly. He went on to become a Veteran of the Illinois National Guard and the US Army, 1992-1995, receiving training at Fort Jackson, SC and Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He was later stationed at Fort Irwin, CA, prior to discharge.
He was a retail shoe store manager at the Huntley (IL) Prime Outlet Mall and later a store manager for various Men's Wearhouse clothing stores in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and southern Wisconsin.
He is survived by his children Regen and Brooke Montgomery of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; his sisters Stephanie (Christopher) Kemp of Punta Gorda, FL and Carolyn (Bill) Wenckebach of Spring Grove, Illinois; his father William (Mollie) Montgomery of Sycamore; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 2023; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his cousin Eric Montgomery in 1990.
Graveside service will be held at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb in Spring of 2025, with Full Military Honors by DeKalb American Legion Post 66.
