Donald J. "Don" Engelman

Donald J. "Don" Engelman, age 80, of Limestone passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at his home. He was born November 14, 1944 in Kankakee, the son of Bud & Arlene (Reck) Engelman. Don married Lou Ann Schultz on May 29, 1965 in Herscher. Don was a truck driver from the age of 16-73 years old. His passions included bowling, golfing, his family, and all their sports and music endeavors. Don was always there to fix things for his family. He built five houses for his family members. Some of his favorite memories include sports, family, and a couple of Elvis concerts. Don was a past member of Calvary Bible Church for nearly 50 years. He recently attended the Manteno Church of the Nazarene. Don was a Christian who loved the Lord. His life advice is "To know the Lord". Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lou Ann Engelman of Limestone; one son, John (Janice) Engelman of Limestone; one daughter, Sherry Cordes of Manteno; three brothers, Mel Engelman, Dick Engelman, and Paul Engelman; six grandchildren, Alicia (Dan) Sobodas, Spike Engelman, Anthony Engelman, Luke Engelman, Hannah Cordes, and Erica Cordes; two great-grandchildren, Landon Sobodas and Nolan Sobodas. Don is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom Engelman and Bobby Engelman; and one sister, Carolyn Manny. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of the 5 p.m. funeral service on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. Rev. Ken Bushey will officiate the service.
