Ronald E. Wischnowski
Born: March 11, 1932
Died: March 25, 2026
Ronald E. Wischnowski, a lifelong Kankakee resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. A private service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
He was born on March 11, 1932, in Kankakee, the son of Fred and Alice Wischnowski. He graduated from St. Patrick High School, where he was active in school sports and the CYO. He was a Korean War Veteran (Infantry) and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He married Eva Allie, and they had six children.
Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Brian McLaren of Bradley; five sons and daughters-in-law, Mike (Barb) of New York, Kevin (Beth) of Indiana, Stan (Shawn) of Pennsylvania, Bill (Cathy) of Indiana, and Tom (Lauren) of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Beverly Lucas.
Mr. Wischnowski retired from the IL Central Railroad. He was an avid sports fan, with a special interest in the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved dogs and nature, and enjoyed his radio, TV, and newspapers.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kankakee.

Rest in Peace Ron and condolences to his family members from an up the street neighbor on Greenwood Ave. My brother and I both knew Ron and his brothers when walking to St. Pat's grade school in the 1950's.
