Frederick Behrens Obituary

Frederick W. Behrens, passed away in his home on December 8th, 2005, after a battle with cancer. He was born December 22nd, 1942 to William Otto Behrens and Isabella (nee Carr) at Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, IL. Best friend and beloved husband of Joanne (nee Schaafsma Pope). Cherished father to Andromana (John) Price and Sherry (Michael) Horan. Devoted grandfather "Papa Fred" to Allison and Kelsey Rogers; John and Josephine Horan; and Joshua and Abigail Price. Dear brother to Charles (Diane) McKinley. Loving "dad" to man's best friends, Ike and Harry. Fred worked diligently as a machinist and locksmith at companies in the south suburbs as well as in Queensland, Australia. After 40+ years of work Fred retired in December of 2004. Fred was an Army veteran of the 1st Infantry Division, a member of Calumet Masonic Lodge #716 and Oak Forest Masonic Lodge #832 A.F. and A.M. He was a true renaissance man whose interests included geology, technology and travel. Fred leaves a world full of friends and relatives who will miss the chance to sit and have a cup of coffee and an interesting conversation. Masonic Services Sunday evening at 8 pm under the auspices of Oak Forest Lodge #832 A.F. and A.M. Funeral Monday, December 12th, 11:00 am at McKenzie Funeral Home, 15618 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Forest. Private interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, 2 pm to 9 pm. 708-687-2990.

My heart goes out to you JoAnn Sherry, Andra and to all your family. There will be a huge void, but always remember the love you share and how proud Fred is to be in all your hearts. Mr. Behrens, I will never forget your firecracker gun, there will never be another one like it in this world.
