Dear Aunt Mill and Family,
I want to send you all my deepest sympathies for Gilbert's passing. I will always be greatful for the kindness he showed us, especially after my father's death. It is a true blessing that family brings to us all that we lean on each other in hard times. I remember with great happiness the time he took us to the circus. It was our first time there, and it is something I remember to this day. I regret that I was unable to attend his service, but he has been in my thoughts and prayers.
Love Always,
Laura Weiss

Dear Aunt Mil and Family,
I wanted to share a very important memory that I have of Gilbert.
Immediately after Russell died, Gilbert contacted me and asked me if I would like him to find out if he could arrange to have some kind of military honor for Russ at his funeral. He thought that because Russell had already signed the papers to re-enlist in the Marine Corp, that he was entitled to some type of military honor. I gave Gilbert my 'OK' and he took it from there. After quite a bit of resistance from the military, Gilbert, in his determination, was able to convince them that his cousin was truly deserving of Marine Corp presence at his funeral.
I think we all remember the wonderful ceremony. Gilbert fought for something he knew we would always remember and cherish. Me and the kids will always be grateful to him for this. I never forgot. I am just sorry that I never had the opportunity to tell him how important this was to me and how I would always be grateful to him. However, I think he knows this now.
My heart goes out to you, Aunt Mil, and to all your family. I hope that God will continue to give you the strength you need to get through each day. You and yours will be in my prayers, as will Gilbert.
Love,
Laura.
