Dear Grandpa

I keep thinking about you, I´m missing you a lot. I miss seeing you in your chair and having you help me learn new things. I can´t believe it´s been 10 years already, it feels like your watching over me and I really hope you´re proud of me and everything I am accomplishing. A lot of stuff has changed since you passed and just wish you were still here. I love you grandpa, please keep watching over me up there in heaven

Grandpa, while thinking of you today, I realized it´s been 10 years since you passed. It still feels as though you here. That goes to show the great impact you left with your family. So much has changed since you passed, but I know you are watching from a greater place. I just wanted to say thank you for everything, and being the great example you were. The older I get, the more I understand the words you preached, and the lessons you taught me. I will see you again, Love Nick.

Dear Ellen,

I can't tell you how bad I feel that I am unable to attend the Mass for Jim. The doctor has advised me not to make long drives, even though I do not agree with him, I am forced to comply. It saddens me not to be there so I can console and exchange stories about Jim and I over the years.

It seems like only yesterday, that I met Jim who was the new kid on the block. I am going to venture to guess that it was about 1935. We became friends from then on. We were on the same baseball team, used Pop's store as gathering place at Fulton and La Vergne. Attended many dances at St. Mels. We enjoyed the good life until WW2 started and that broke up the whole gang.

After three years of separation we reunited and formed the Fulton Club, and our numbers increased when our wives joined.

I saw Jim at the Farragut Navy Base in Idaho when I was in a Navy School, and Jim was in Boot Camp.

Jim and I used to have lunch together in Chicago Heights as well as Oak Brook.

I am the person I am today because of the influence of all my friends I grew up with on the West Side. We are now down to Bob Dawson and me. It is not comforting to know that our time will come.

The people in the Fulton Club turned out to be good husbands and fathers. I think we have left a lasting legacy with our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

May the Peace of the Lord be with your family and you always.

Love,

Joe
