On his last visit to Arizona a few years ago, Fr. John said something that has changed my life. He said, "People are so busy worrying about tomorrow that they forget to enjoy today". And he was so right. I have tried to enjoy more todays and live life more in the moment. That's the least I can do for him after all he's done for us. I'm extremely grateful that my children got to participate in the masses at the kitchen table in our pajamas just like I did as a child in Tomahawk. We will miss you but will see you again.

Monsignor you will truly be missed. I was so fortunate that at my last visit to St Linus earlier this year, you had surprised everyone and made it back to the altar. It was great seeing you and hearing your booming voice that seemed to carry forever. I was glad that my husband and children were there and we were proud to applaud your return. God Bless you and your family and thank you for everything.

We were so sorry to hear of Monsignor's passing. He was a very caring man, and he will be missed. But maybe God just felt that it was time to take His angel back!!! Our deepest condolences to Monsignor's family, and to the priests and staff at St. Linus.

Monsignor was a great man, he was with our family for good times such as Mom and Dad's 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries, many weddings and celebrations; he was also with during the hard times, during the illnesses and deaths of Mom and Dad. He will be missed especially by Jan who would wait in the back of church every Sunday to give him a hug. He will always be remembered walking and singing with Jan in the hospital visiting my parents. With loving memory,
Jane and Jan Lurquin

Monsignor will be missed by his St. Linus family as well as by the Hayes family. He has been with us through the good times as well as the hard times and he always knew what to say and do. We have been blessed to have known him and call him friend. Thanks for everything and always being there. I will miss you terribly but I know you are exactly where you want to be. I am sure Jesus welcomed you with open arms.
Love,
Marg

I was lucky enough to be related to Father John. His sister Cecilia told us he was always late for everthing so she called him "The Late Father John." Today I received word that he had passed. So now he is truly the Late Father John! I can see him smiling in heaven right now as I type this. He was truly a special man with a great sense of humor and will be missed very much. I knew Msgr. Cardiff my whole life. He was a kind, gentle man who always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say.
He was there for me in the good times and especially in the hard times. He is the best example of who we should try yo be like.
Rest in Peace, and thank you for being there for me always.
With love,

The day I was born was the day that Msgr. and my dad had a golf game to go to, but I had "priority status". Anyway, Msgr. specially baptized me in the hospital, and THEN, a year later that July, we did the physical ceremony at St. Linus with my family. Requiem en Pace

I will miss Monsignor's kindness & his effusive smile. He was a true priest. It's not everday that you can say that you knew a living SAINT, but all of us from St. Linus already knew that. We were very blessed to have him in our lives. I feel great JOY that he is now home in heaven and extremely blessed for having known him.
