I only knew Jose for a year from our Saturday peace vigils and monthly progressive forums. But liked and bonded with his kindred spirit over peace, political, ecology, and animal rights beliefs. We both abstained from meat eating; for the last three decades in my case, and 12 years in his. He was evolved and sensitive enough to see and feel the cosmic tapestry that binds all life forms together in this universal state of being. Now that his spirit has moved on (as we all must do), may his yearning, learning, and teaching inspire all of us to see beyond the shallow self and embrace the higher good that surrounds all of creation. Here at last to believe. Thanks for touching our lives, Jose, and God bless your family.

I only knew Jose briefly but he was committed to peace and this I am sure is a testament to his life. No better testament can be given.

Jose seems to have known that by altering a few people's beliefs by a micro-millimeter today, he might alter the world's orbit dramatically as time went by. He can rest in peace, confident that he made a difference.

"Get some education!" That was Jose's favorite retort to passing motorists who would curse at us as we stood at our peace demonstrations at the Hwy of the Flags Vets Memorial in Highland, IN every Saturday. He would never curse back. He firmly believed that education was the key to getting our country back on track.
Thank you Brother Jose for standing witness so many times with us to the crimes of wars of aggression, torture, loss of habeas corpus and illegal spying on American citizens. It has been our great pleasure to have know you and served with you in the cause of peace.
