CAMDEN - Chad Dion Garrett, 42, of 108 River Road, Camden, NC died Friday, September 9, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Pasquotank County on August 15, 1974 to Vincent Cecil Garrett, Jr. and the late Fonda Tarkenton Garrett and was the husband of Emily Farmer Garrett. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force as an instructor of radiology. Chad loved the outdoors and many sports, including surfing, was an avid kayak fisherman and enjoyed sunset cruises almost every evening with his family.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a two step-children that he loved dearly, Abigail Furst and Evan Archer Furst; his sister, Huyla Coker her husband Stephen and their children, Allie, Libby and Sam; his step-mother, Cathy Garrett; a step brother, Jeremy Estes his wife Riza and their children, Marissa, Amilyn and Carolyn; and step grandparents, Norm and Ann Reeves of Norfolk, VA. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vincent and Jean Garrett and maternal grandparents, Earl and Gladys Tarkenton.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Living Treasures Annual Fund, Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation Program, North Carolina Aquarium Society, 3125 Poplarwood Court, Suite 160, Raleigh, NC 27606.
