Clarence Lane Obituary
ELIZABETH CITY - Clarence L. Lane, age 88, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at his residence on Friday, August 15, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Buxton, NC on November 9, 1936 to the late Clarence W. Lane and Virginia Dare Saunders Lane, he was the husband of Nancy Pritchard Lane. He was the former owner and operator of Lane's Automotive. He served honorably in the U.S. National Guard for three years and was a dedicated member of Corinth Baptist Church. Clarence was well-respected in his community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His commitment to his faith, country, and entrepreneurship left a lasting impact.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his sons, Clarence Lane, Jr. (Daisey) of Durham, Randy Lane (Jenny) of Wake Forest and Jeffrey Lane (Dawn) of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Blake Lane, Jarrod Lane, Travis Lane, Dr. Brooks Lane, Greyson Lane, Anna Lane, Dawson Lane, and Briley Lane; great grandchildren, Violet Lane, Madeline Lane, Eric Lane, Audrey Lane, Eleanor Lane, and Scarlett Lane; one sister; one brother; and special friends, Randy and Kathy Masters. He was preceded in death by one brother. The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Daisy Shaw, Carrie Resendiz and Amber Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Kevin Reiver officiating. There will be a private family entombment at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at their residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the SPCA of Northeastern NC, 102 Enterprise Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
