Curtis Spence Obituary

Curtis Edward "Eddie Boy" Spence, 52, of 204 Tinsley Way, Gaston, died at MCV Hospital, Richmond, Va., Thursday, March 23, 2006. A funeral service will be held at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Cardwell Street, Elizabeth City, Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Dr. Roosevelt Askew officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Grove Cemetery, Elizabeth City. A viewing will be today from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home of his mother at 806 Ray St., Elizabeth City. Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements. A native of Elizabeth City, Mr. Spence was the son of Carrie Lee Spence of Elizabeth City and the late Melvin Lee Spence Sr. Besides his mother, he is survived by four sisters, Audrey Blount and husband, Albert, Ruby Jones, Barbara Sessom and husband, John, and Bettie Jones and husband, Raymond, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; five brothers, Melvin Spence Jr. and wife, Mary, Calvin Spence and wife, Charlotte, Ronald Spence and wife, Shelia, Wayne Spence and Tony Spence and wife, Bernadine, all of Elizabeth City; three grandchildren; and a special friend, Nora Johnson of Gaston, N.C.
