Louis Stallings Obituary

Louis Richard Stallings Jr., 65, of 1137 Sandy Cross Road, Belvidere, died Sunday morning, July 30, 2006, in Chesapeake General Hospital. A lifelong resident of Perquimans County he was the son of the late Louis Richard Stallings and Buna Winslow Stallings. He retired after 47 years as a warehouse manager for Allied Security Storage and Van Co. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the Turnpike Hunt Club where he served as president, and the former Chowan River Moose Club. Stallings served as coach of the Belvidere-Whiteston Little League team for 28 years. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia Ann ÒPatsyÓ Wiley Stallings; two daughters and their husbands, Diane White and R.P. and Brenda Winslow and John, a son and his wife, Ricky Stallings and Denise, all of Belvidere; two sisters, Geraldine Driver of Wilmington, Del. and Judith Lowman of Belvidere; two brothers, Clyde E. Stallings of Virginia Beach and Donald Ray Stallings of Belvidere; six grandchildren, Matt White and wife, Tuesday, LeAnna White, Jessica Winslow, Hayden Winslow, Amber Stallings and Rusty Stallings; a great-grandchild, ÒSuperÓ Dave Byrum; and numerous friends. He was predeceased by a grandson, J.R. Winslow and by a brother, James A. Stallings. He was lovingly known as ÒDiddyÓ and ÒGranddiddyÓ to his children and grandchildren, ÒUnit OneÓ to his hunt club and ÒCoachÓ to the many Little Leaguers whose lives he touched. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Up River Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Perquimans County Youth League, c/o of Jeff Edwards, 183 Ainsley Road, Hertford, NC 27944 or Bethany United Methodist Church, c/o Douglas Baker, 1176 Acorn Hill Road, Hobbsville NC 27946. Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the Stallings family.

Unit 1 was a good friend to us and all that new him. Jonathan new him well he talks about the times he played T-Ball and Mr. Richard would come pick up all the boys and take them to the ball park in the back of his pick up truck. He will surely be missed by a lot of people and family.

So sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Richard. My prayers are with you in your time of sorrow. I remember all the fun times Jason and the other boys had when Mr. Richard coached their ball team. He will be greatly missed by a lot of us.

I am not sure yall remember me, but I was married to Fenton Jr. and got to know Mr. Richard through Arlene. He was a wonderful, funny man and a joy to be around. I am very sorry for your family's loss. God Bless all of you.
