Barbara Ulrich Obituary

Barbara Ulrich (Omey)

A life-long resident of the South Bay, at the age of 67 Barbara lost her long courageous battle with cancer, and passed away on December 30, 2012. She was born in Los Angeles to Amy and Dallas Omey and graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1963. She is survived by her two sisters, Mary Powell (husband, Jerry) of La Habra and Joy Buerge (husband, John) of Malibu; her brother, Russ Omey (wife, Colette) of Hermosa Beach; as well as many nieces and nephews, whom she loved so dearly. Barbara was a social person who made friends very easily, loved to have fun all the time, and strongly loved life. She was the most positive thinking person and was an inspiration to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Barbara was a great daughter, a great sister, a great sister-in-law, and a fabulous aunt. A Memorial Service, followed by a celebration of her life, will be held on Saturday January 19 at 1:00 p.m., at the Buena Park Holiday Inn where she was the Human Resources Manager for over fifteen years and where she loved to work and made so many friends. So sorry about Barbara´s passing! She was a fun girl along with Mary and Joy! It´s been around 60 years since I last saw any of the Omey family! I still think about Mary often! Please give my condolences!

To Barbara's friends and family - from 1964-67 Barbara lived with my family and I always thought of her a my second older sister. We called her "bah-bah" because my baby nephew named her that. I have so many happy memories of "Bah bah", including one from more recent years when she visited me in MD and begged to have her photo taken at the Capitol Building in DC - what a happy fun day that was to honor her desire. She lit up every room she walked into, and she will be missed.
