George Garven Obituary
We sadly announced that George Garven a Manhattan Beach California went to be with his Lord and Savior December 26th, 2017 peacefully at his home in Manhattan Beach. George was born June 6th 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland one of eight children he would often tell the stories of the days of his life back in the old country and how he came to the US with his loving wife Margaret in 1961 some may know George as Coach Garven as he headed many youth soccer teams throughout his life. George started the very first club soccer team in Manhattan Beach back in 1973 Manhattan Beach Crusaders George went on to teach and Mentor for many years after spending approximately 50 years never losing a season an accomplishment he was very proud of. George was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge a proud member of the Knights of Columbus in Manhattan Beach and a very proud member of the British Commonwealth society and a big lifelong Glasgow Rangers football club fan and a very proud member of Journey of faith/Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Manhattan Beach California George retired from Hughes aircraft in 1992 and had a great retirement enjoying his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George leaves behind his two most precious things in life; his daughter's Carol Garven Wilkowski and Debbie Garven Chapman many nieces and nephews in Edmonton, Alberta to Vancouver, Canada. There will be a viewing at Green Hills Memorial Park January 3rd and January 4th at 10 am with a burial January 10th at 10 am please feel free to sign the guestbook thank you and God bless.
