Harry Pecorelli Obituary

Pecorelli Jr., Harry
Lost a fiercely fought battle with cancer on March 27. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Born and raised in Manhattan Beach, he entered the Korean conflict as a Navy Diver. Following the Navy, and a brief stint as a City Surveyor, he chose to apply his engineering degree toward marine applications founding Aqua Contractors and Oceanographics, Inc. Residing in Redondo Beach, operating his company in Torrance, and serving as a reserve Police Officer, he felt a close tie to the community. Harry's love for the ocean ultimately developed into a passion for marine conservation, spurring him in 1991 to found Catalina Conservancy Divers. He is survived by his son, Harry Pecorelli III; his daughters, Dominique (Nikki) Pecorelli and Tina Shumato; and his granddaughter, Danielle Shumato. A memorial service will be held at the King Harbor Yacht Club, Redondo Beach, Tuesday, April 4th, at 12:00 PM. His ashes will be scattered at sea. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025 or Catalina Conservancy Divers, PO Box 2739, Avalon, Catalina Island 90704. Dear Harry, You were a great cousin that I had the pleasure of knowing all my life. You were my hero as I was growing up. I wanted to be exactly like you. You taught me many things as I was growing up, some good and some I cannot mention. I have such great childhood memories of growing up with times spent with you. I hope and pray that sometime, somewhere we will meet again. You are always in my thoughts, and you will be missed. Love, Cousin Michael
