I would just like to say that I am very sorry for your loss.
I was always hoping that 3rd strike would come out with another album. Jim's voice was amazing. Lost Angel is one of my all time favorite albums. I loved the mix of rock and rap. Even though I live in the Central Valley I could still relate to everything they were saying in the album. I know its a litte late but my thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.

I just heard about Jims passing a few days ago. I am a big fan of his. 3rd Strikes album "Lost Angel" helped me through getting sober years back. I got to thank Jim for that and I am grateful I had that oppertunity. I was so saddened by the news. I can't imagine what his family and friends are going through. My deepest sympathies to you all and you will be in my prayers. I put together a little tribute video to Jim. It's not much but it made me smile. Anyways, check it out if you would like.

It has almost been a month since my Uncle Jim passed away but the wound still feels fresh. When I start to feel down, I think of all the good times we had and it helps me to be strong. Jim was and still is a big part of my life. When my brother and I were "little nerds" (as Jim would call us), we would hang out in his room and watch him create his music. I remember just being in awe of how fast and good the music would come out.
Even though Jim was a master at his craft, he would take time out of his music to let me try and make something of my own. We would write raps and laugh till we couldn't breathe. After it was all done and recorded he would tell me, "You have the musical gift Nicky." It never really sunk in until he took me on the 2002 Warped Tour for 2 weeks. Being on a major tour like that turned me on to that kind of life style and changed my life forever. Now that I’m a man, I have toured in my own band all over the US, Canada, Europe, UK, and Australia.
Thank you Jimmy for not only being the best Uncle a kid could ever have, but for being my mentor, idol, friend, and most important a Father figure when mine wasn't there. I can’t wait till I see you again.

My name is Julie and even though Jimmy is my little brother, at times he was my protector, confidant, personal comedian, and "junk tv" watching partner. The role he played that that I will cherish the most though, was uncle to my two boys, Anthony and Nick. Jimmy was 14 when Anthony was born and 16 when Nick came along. Having Jimmy as your uncle was like hitting the lottery - part father, guide, mentor, but mostly playmate. It was an endless E-Ticket ride. My cousin Scott was correct when he eulogized that they have lost the most.
The two babies you once carried so lovingly are now young men who with such tenderness and respect, as pall bearers, now carried you. -- The circle of love is now complete. -- Thank you my brother for loving my boys the way that you did. Thank you for loving me - I love you right back.

Jims’ family would like to take a moment to thank you for your support during the past two weeks. It’s clear to us through your actions that we all lost someone special when we lost Jim.
Thank you for the phone calls, cards, visits, delicious food, prayers, flowers and thoughts. Thank you to those that organized and attended the candle light vigil at Point Fermin Park – with a special thanks to the people that continued to tend the vigil site, keeping the candles lit 24 hours a day until the funeral. The family was especially touched by the photo collages and posters people created and/or added to, at the memorial/funeral. Most important, though, was each of you sharing with us personal memories of time spent with Jim.
To those of you who braved the storm and torrential downpour, it was a quiet show of the strength of your friendship, loyalty and love..
…All has passed away but dreams stay alive…

I think about the family every minute of my day and each time I get into my "YEAH! Melvin's box!!!" I put on one of uncle's songs to start my drive off. I meant Jimmy a while ago when my daughter brought him home as her new boyfriend. As I got to know him I could see there was something special in him. He was the sweetest, kindest, sincere person my family ever meant. When Jimmy went to meet his maker in the sky, he took a piece of all our hearts. Jimmy now you can rest, and someday we all will see you again.

I remember the boy I met at White Point...cute, very shy and with a pink izod shirt. You asked me to "go around" and of course I said yes. I can even remember getting in trouble with my mom because I had written "I love Jimmy" on the side of my vans. Years later, when we met again, you thought you were SO funny when you teased me about it. That big laugh of yours. I will always remember you, all the shows and practices, all the better times...especially driving home with you and Todd from one of your first Dimestore Hoods shows, you were so happy.

Back in high school my sister Lisa, and I both met Jim and got to know him as a sweet, kind, and talented person. Although after high school we lost touch, I always remembered Jimmy, and his friendly smile. Ten years ago when my sister passed away I learned that Jimmy wrote a song about her in her honor. My only regret is that I never thanked him for it in person. I know Lisa has thanked him for it now. My heartfelt, deepest condolences to Jim's family and friends. Jim is an angel who's spirit will always be with you.

I only knew Jim for a short time when he dated my younger sister, though they stayed friends even after they stopped dating. When I first met him, all I saw was this big tattooed guy. It didn’t take long to see his sense of humor and get to know what a unique individual he was. I was so impressed as to how genuine he was and how his feet were firmly on the ground. He had a bright, energetic, vibrant, charismatic personality and a wonderful sense of humor. I’ve thought of Jim often over the years, with fondness and always with a smile. My sympathies to his family and friends. I’m sure his is a loss not easily overcome.

I still can't take in the fact we talked so close to your parting. Telling me you were going to sleep. Calling me on X-mas. Couldn't of asked for any other X-mas present even though I didn't get one, Your was quite the only one I could of asked for. Remember the times we had? And my apartment on 26th street. Man we had fun in San Diego. Thanks for helping me with me with my business. The picture we took (or the one I got in the way of). I could write for hours, But thank you for everything, I wasn't ready for this, now my final good-bye is on my b-day. We will talk when we meet again. Don't worry. To Jim's Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. You have so many wonderful memories of your Jimmy and I hope those memories can bring you some comfort during this time. Lynda and I used to refer to "The Genius of Jim" in the way people were drawn to him and the way he could make friends with just about anyone. Not an easy task for a big guy covered in tattoos. God bless you all.

Dear Korthe Family,
We will all miss Jimmy dearly. Even though our lives took very different paths as we moved on from all those days spent playing together in Strathmore, Jimmy will always be a part of many fond childhood memories.
I truly hope Jimmy finds eternal peace and happiness on that great "stage" in the sky.
Many thanks to your whole family for letting me "crash" all those Lane-Korthe family parties. I proudly wore the "Redlane" nickname Linda hung on me when I was a kid.
Unfortunately, I won't be able make it to Pedro for the services.
All of my family's thoughts and prayers are with you.

They say only the good die young...
The music scene, San Pedro, and many whose lives were touched by Jim and his music have suffered a great loss in his passing.
I had the privilege and honor of befriending Jimmy at one of the lowest points in my life; He took me under his big tattooed wing to watch out for me, and encouraged me to take a huge step towards a better life. For this, I owe him my life.
His words, genuine empathy, and quiet strength were a rock to which I clung... I was in awe of this gentle giant whose music and skin told the story of a man who had suffered a great deal, but took hold of his own life and redirected that boundless energy he was known for to rise above it all.
He was an inspiration to me, a true friend who'd do anything for those he cared about.
Jimmy, thank you... For more than you'll ever know.
May you find peace now, in The Light you so often sought, but emanated from within.

Of all of the many, many memories I have of Jimmy, my favorite of all is the time I came home to find that Vince had left Jimmy in care of our daughter Katina while he drove to Ports o' Call to pick me up from work. It was almost 20 years ago but I can still see him on the living room floor with her, surrounded by her toys, with socks on his hands like makeshift puppets and talking to her in funny voices. She was absolutely delighted with him and his little puppet show! Jimmy was definitely one of a kind and was so very loved by everyone who had the honor of calling him a friend. Jimmy, you will most certainly be missed!

We keep expecting Jimmy to breeze into the house with a funny statement or a quickly made up song to make us all laugh. No matter how many times we said: Do it again Jim!!!; he would, until we were all in tears and our stomachs hurt from laughing so hard.
Jim was a unique soul and the world is left just a little darker and sadder without him in it....at least we have his music and can hear his voice whenever we need to.
I'm sure many of you remember the crazy, fun, HOT days in my parents garage in Pedro listening to all the bands practice. Those are some of my best memories. Thank you everyone for your kindness at this time.

Jim,
Did I tell you enough times in life how much I appreciated our friendship? How when times got hard and I called on you, you never hesitated to be there for me.
Twenty years of good times, my brother! From late nights listening to The Drifters in your beloved 62 Impala, taking our ladies to dinner, watching The Shining like 147 times and looking forward to the 148th, or seeing you, with socks on your hands, doing a puppet show for my then 2 year old daughter Katina. After you, they defineately broke the mold.
Through good times and bad, the best times we had!
And through our memories and your music, you will live on.

I am happy to have had the many nights home together watching our reality shows, and the laughter we had...I am so going to miss all of our times together, from me making you chicken and rice, to making funny voices to the little kids through the screen door as they walked home from school...I still hear your knees popping everytime you stood up, I am glad I was with you during all of it!! And I am glad you were there for me to reassure me about the life I wanted..I will truly miss you, you were my Brother, my friend, my confidant, and my connection to the friends I lost along the way..I am sorry that we didnt have more times together, but the times we shared will never be forgotten!!You made rough times so much better...and I just wanted to say thank you for all you brought to my life..we shared this world together, and I am so happy that you are my friend!!

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dear Jim,
I would like to offer my sincere condolences to your family and friends as we all mourn.
“Grief is the price we pay for love” a quote from the 911 memorial in London.
In life you never believed how many people were touched by you, now in death I hope you will know that so many people loved you and will cherish your memory forever. My favorite memories are of the bonfires at Cabrillo beach singing along to Beatles songs with Austin & Harry. “Hey Bungalow Bill”. Those were good times and thanks for sharing them.
Regrettably I will not be able to attend your services and it breaks my heart. I’m so sorry.
Until we meet again rest in peace.
I love you,
