Reese, M.D., Samuel A.
Born December 24, 1909 in Long Beach, California; one of eleven children. Graduate of LB Jefferson Jr. High School and LB Poly High School. Graduated from LA College of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons, later California College of Medicine--now College of Medicine, University of California, Irvine. Member of: Lions Club of Long Beach; Jr. Chamber of Commerce; Native Sons; Shrine Long Beach Masons No. 327; Long Beach Scottish Tite; former Long Beach Mounted Police; member Long Beach Professions Group Times Bldg during World War II, member of American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of California. Five years with Metropolitan Hospital as Staff Psychiatrist, retired staff Pacific Hospital of Long Beach, Honorary staff member Long Beach Memorial Hospital, former member Neuropsychiatry of Los Angeles County General Hospital, fellow in American College of Neuropsychiatry, Certified Medical Examiner Dept of Mental Hygiene State of California, sixty two years in practice in Long Beach. Husband of Mrs. Beatrice Rothwell Reese who passed away January 2, 1993. Dr. Reese leaves daughters, Joyce Anne Parkhurst of Long Beach, CA; Melissa Jeanne Palmer of Las Vegas, NV; son, Laurence Rothwell Reese of Brea, CA; nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. We will certainly miss Dr. Resse. He and my mother, Juanita Mahieu Underwood, kept up quite a correspondence these past few years; he had been the Mahieu family doctor for decades. May God's peace rest upon you all at this time.
