Josephine Michaels

Josephine Louise Michaels, 80, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from natural causes at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado with her family by her side. Josephine was born September 23, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to Josephine and Joseph Dravecky. She spent her early years on the family farm just outside of Louisville before her family moved into downtown Louisville. After graduating high school Josephine attended CU Boulder where she met her husband, Norman Michaels. After her tenure at CU Josephine started her more than 40 year career in human resources at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Josephine and Norman got married and bought their "forever" house in Old Town Louisville shortly after college, which is where they lived for the rest of their lives. In her role in HR Josephine took great joy in planning birthday parties and any other special events that arose for the office staff. All who knew Josephine could honestly say that she made a big impact on their lives. She was an avid stamp collector and an active member in the community of Old Town Louisville. Josephine was a long-standing member of the Louisville Italian Club, Louisville Museum, and member of the National Slovak Society. Josephine is survived by her older sister, Therese O'Connor; niece, Jeanne Frazzell; grandson, Mike Garcia; great niece and nephew, Sara and Kyle Frazzell; and many lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman and her daughter Michelle. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 1, at 11a.m. at the Tri-City Elks Lodge in Louisville.
