Dear Steve, you made life brighter and felt like family after only a day! Thank you for sharing your light, kindness, and humor so generously with me and my family. We treasure the time we spent with you and family and friends in the mountains. You will be deeply missed.

My son Jamal and I spent a magical week up in the mountains with Steve, who took us fly-fishing in high mountain lakes. He was an extraordinary generous man, sharing his time, knowledge, and a wallet full of leaders. A gentle, luminous, soul. I imagine his path in the worlds beyond to be full of wonder and happiness. I treasure the brief time I spent with him.

I, too, remember childhood trips to Brainard Lake with Steve's family in particular his sister, Julie, who was my friend. And spending time at the Hanson house when we lived in Boulder in the 60s making gingerbread houses. Godspeed, Steve. May you Rest In Peace and Love.

I will miss doing yoga with Steve, with our little group in the foothills near his home. He was one of a kind!

I, too, miss hiking to Lake Isabel and building fairy houses out of moss, catching frogs at Brainard Lake, playing crazy pretend games with monkeys and purple polka dotted tigers and how nice he was to me when I lived in Boulder my senior year with my family far away in Chile. Years later when I was lonely in Asia with my family, he was a devoted pen pal.

I will miss cooking with Steve while telling stories. Also hiking to Lake Isabel and other trails in the Indian Peaks.
