Steven Madjlesi Obituary

A memorial service for Steven Masoud "Moe" Madjlesi, 75, is set for Friday at First Presbyterian Church in the sanctuary following a visitation in the fellowship hall from 1 to 2:45 p.m.

Mr. Madjlesi died Sunday, June 20, 2021, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Born and raised in Tehran, he graduated from the Iranian Institute of Technology and worked in the thermodynamics lab at the Arya-Mehr University of Technology. He moved to the US in 1972 to attend college, where he met Debbie, his wife of over 45 years. He graduated from the University of Memphis in 1976 with a master's degree in mechanical engineering. He enjoyed a long career in engineering, most recently serving as facilities manager for Northrop Grumman in Iuka. He spent his entire life pursuing excellence, but what he excelled at most was being a father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ali and Fatima Madjlesi; his brothers, Jalal, Mehdi and Mohammed; and his sister, Mehri.

Survivors are his loving wife, Debbie; four adoring daughters, Sarah Bynum (Ward), Rachel Madjlesi (Dennis Brenhaug), Elizabeth Madjlesi (Jeff Hunt) and Amy Madjlesi (Trey Crews); his beloved sister, Mahine; a niece, Kathy Whitehead (Dave), and their daughters, Natalie and Norah, as well as his special nieces Mina and Mojgan Madjlesi.

He was blessed with four grandsons, who also survive him: Samuel Bryant Walker, Henry James Brenhaug, James Ward Bynum IV and Brooks Andrew Bynum. He also leaves behind many close friends and colleagues.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

McPeters Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Moe was our favorite uncle. Our cool uncle. We have great childhood memories with him in Tehran and Shiraz. We loved him.

He was the kindest and most helpful person to everyone around him. We owe our start in the US to him, and he is part of where and who we are today.

Please accept our sincere condolences. God bless him, and may he RIP.
