A "Celebration of Life" is planned for Sunday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 29 Elliott St., Woodland.
Frank was born in Los Angeles and migrated to Yolo County where he lived for 51 years. In 1955, he married Sherran, then attended Healds College and earned his journeyman-ship. He began his career at UC Davis and worked for 37 years until he retired as Superintendent of the Electrical Shop. He enjoyed volunteering as a reserve deputy for the Woodland Police and Yolo County Sheriff Depts.
After retirement, his passions focused on vacationing and ocean cruising with his companion Sherran, and whenever possible, Oliver, the family pooch. He was dedicated to the Seventh Day Adventist School teachers and students and served on the board over the years. He volunteered with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) where he was recognized for his "long time service as a committed and caring advocate for the children of Yolo County." He enjoyed making clocks and woodworking.
He and Sherran raised four children in Woodland and loved watching their family grow. They include: Frank Jr., and his son Frank III; Sandy, and her children Trina and Brandon and great-granddaughter Haily; Mark, and his wife Anita; and Kimberly, and her husband Al and children Samantha and Beth, his only brother, Pastor Don Lane Sr., and his wife Arlene, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In Frank's honor, donations can be directed to the Seventh Day Adventist School, Attn.: Val Kampf, 29 West St., Woodland, 95695, or CASA, Attn.: Manuel Lopez, 327 College St., Suite 204, Woodland, 95695.

I enjoyed working with Frank in the Electric Shop at UCD from 1983 to 1993. My prayers and thoughts are with the family. I am happy to know that Frank had a personal relationship with Christ. I look foreward to visiting with him again someday.

It's been a blessing to know Frank. I first met Frank and Sherran at the Woodland Adventist Church. We''ve shared many great times together in small groups, board meetings and other church activities. Frank had a passion and gift with children, especially our school children. He touched many in a special way only he himself could. Frank was always willing to help my wife and I whenever we needed assistance. She considered him as a second father. You will never be forgotten Frank. We're missing you a lot.

Dear Frank Lane Family! My remembrance of Frank is of love and self-sacrifice. He shared with others his special talents.
We have known Frank about ten years. He and Sherren were devoted to the Seventh-Day Adventist church. Quite often I saw Frank and Sherren working on a project at church. Everytime I went to the church, which is often I saw Frank and Sherren working inside and outside the building. I can't even count the jobs he has done for our church.
I thank God for allowing my husband and I to have known Frank as a friend and brother in Christ. I thank God that we have good frinds that we will see again.
In Christ love-Rose Scharl

It was an honor to know Frank. We first met Frank in our small group study of The Purpose Driven Life. We grew to care deeply for Frank, Sherran, Kim and Al during this time, as they cared and comforted us when we were in need. He was always uplifting, encouraging and knowledgeable about life.
"Even as the sun goes down to end the light of day,
It's rising on a new horizon somewhere far away.
And though our world seems darker for the loss of one we miss,
Our loved one's life is dawning in a brighter world than this."
We will miss him.
