Phyllis Machado Obituary

Phyllis Machado passed away peacefully on March 11, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Phyllis was the devoted wife and soulmate of her late husband and best friend of over 45 years, Tony Machado. She was the loving mother to three sons, Steve (Vicki), Gary (Diane) and Johnny; proud grandmother to Sarah, Holly, Hilary, Sam (Tammy); great-grandmother to Austin, Sam, Logan, Quentin, and Addie, nephew, Rob Moriconi, and Hillary Farnham, who was like a granddaughter to her. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Marie Moriconi; infant son, Johnny; brother, Freddie Moriconi (Darlene); and nephew, Louie Moriconi.Phyllis was born and raised in Woodland. She attended schools in Woodland and graduated from Woodland High School. Phyllis was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Italian Catholic Federation. In addition, she donated her time to Holy Rosary School and was a Pink Lady at Woodland Memorial Hospital. Phyllis loved music and enjoyed singing and playing the accordion.Phyllis, like her mother, was known for her many traditional Italian dishes that were the centerpiece of every family occasion. There were countless memorable dinners around the holidays where the grandchildren and friends were able to get together.Phyllis and Tony had a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as a vast network of friends. Phyllis was the adopted "mom" to all of her son's friends when they were young and they all enjoyed spending time with her. One of her favorite sayings was "Be thankful for what you have." She was a true friend and will be greatly missed by all those that she left behind. The Machado family would like to extend a very special thank you to Deborah, Marianne, Lani, Margaret, Vika, and all of the ladies that provided warmhearted care to our mother during her last four years, and allowed her to stay in her home during this very difficult time.Interment will be on March 25, at 11 a.m. at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 CR 22, Woodland, CA. A celebration of life to follow at the Yolo Fliers Club, 17980 CR 94B, Woodland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Meals on Wheels, Yolo Hospice, or a charity of the donor's choice in Phyllis's name.

Years ago, Sarah, Hilary and Holly were in my home daycare. That's when the friendship with my Hillary began. It didn't take long and those four girls were spending as much time with Noni (Phyllis) as possible. They loved hanging out at here house. She taught them lessons about life, love and friendship. Noni was the glue that held their friendship together. I will forever be grateful for the love shown to my daughter, and the acceptance into her family. The stories those girls can tell about time spent with her is funnier than a season of Golden Girls. She was their best friend, mentor and will live in their hearts forever. Thank you Noni!

My prayers are for Steve and Gary's family. Phil was a really good friend to my mom. When I was young and we lived in their rental, I can remember good times that I had with her. Phil was always kind and loving person. She was like a grandmother to me. She'll be in our hearts forever.
