Charles Brodhead Obituary

Charles C. Brodhead TOWN OF ULSTER - Charles C. Brodhead, 82 of Evergreen Street, Town of Ulster died Sunday Aug. 10, 2014 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. Born March 6, 1932 in Kingston, he was a son of the late Charles C. Sr. and Gladys Wheeler. He was the stepson of the late Dorothy D. Deyo. A United States Army Veteran, Charlie served during the Korean War. A graduate of The RCA Institute, He was employed by IBM as an engineer at both Kingston and Poughkeepsie for thirty four years until retiring. Charlie also worked as support staff for the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Sam’s club as a greeter, He enjoyed computers, radio, television, worked at Radio station WKNY, RNN television operating the camera and was an amateur meteorologist, and tinkered with all kinds of gadgets. Charlie was a member and past president of the Town of Ulster Lions, Life Member Joyce Schirick Post 1386 VFW and the IBM Quarter Century Club. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Mary E. (Tremper) Brodhead whom he married Aug. 22, 1954; his daughters, Cheryl Brodhead and her partner Debbie Haddaway of Crofton, Md., Cathy Brodhead of Kingston and Doreen Brodhead also of Kingston. Cousins, Wayne and Pam Parmelee, Diane McCord. Nieces and nephews also survive Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Avenue. www.jvleahyfh.com Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Livingston Street, Kingston Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors; will be at Saint Peters Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to The Patriots Project of Ulster County c/o Ulster County Veterans Service Agency: 5 Development Court, Kingston, N.Y. 12401, or Wounded Warriors of Upstate New York, or Immanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Livingston St., Kingston, N.Y. 12401
