Elsie Taylor Setera Leininger LAKE KATRINE-Elsie Taylor Setera Leininger, passed away on Oct. 17, 2018 in Lake Katrine, N.Y. Elsie was 107 when she passed and is believed to have held the claim as the oldest living person in Ulster County, N.Y. Elsie comes from a large, loving family and had many dear friends. Elsie was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith Warcup Taylor. Born on June 10, 1911, in Newark, New Jersey, Elsie was later raised in Bloomington, N.Y. Elsie’s brother, Harold Taylor, passed in 1997. Elsie was a Kingston High School graduate. She worked as a Supervisor for the NY Telephone Company in Kingston, N.Y. for 30 years, retiring in 1965. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Elsie was blessed with two long, happy marriages. In 1937 she married John P. Setera in Kingston, N.Y. They were married for 25 years, residing in Kingston, N.Y., until John’s passing in 1962. Their beloved son, Harold John Setera, of Glenerie, N.Y., passed in 1995. Surviving is Daughter-in-law Joan Hinkley Setera of Glenerie, N.Y. Elsie remarried to Henry J. Leininger in 1965, in a ceremony in Bloomington, N.Y. They resided in Kingston and then Rockledge, Fla. They were married 27 years, until sadly, Henry passed 1992. Surviving are Elsie’s step-son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Joan Leininger, of Lassel, Tenn. and stepdaughter and son-in law, Evelyn Leininger Tribout and Les Tribout of Rockledge, Fla. In 2000, Elsie was warmly welcomed back to Lake Katrine, N.Y., where she was able to spend many more fun years with family and friends. Surviving grandchildren are Christine Carpino of Colorado Springs, Colo., Darren Setera, of Catskill, N.Y., John Paul Setera, of Saugerties, NY, Beth Schmidt of Bloomington, N.Y. and Suzanne Rimington of Saugerties, N.Y. Surviving step-grandchildren are Wayne and Nan Leininger. Predeceased step-grandchildren are William (Billy) Leininger and Julie Leininger. Surviving great-grandchildren are Corey Sinnott, Miranda Carpino, Rebecca Carpino, Karissa Setera, Angelia Setera, Justine Setera, John Paul Setera, Steven Schmidt, Nicole Schmidt, Olivia Schmidt, Anica Montano, Ryley O’Conner and Conner Currey. Step-grandchildren include Wayne Leininger, Angie Leininger and Tina Leininger. Great, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, additional family members and many dear friends are also left behind. We remember Elsie as someone who enjoyed life to the fullest. Most important to her was the time she could spend with her family and friends. She kept many lifelong relationships. Elsie cherished the time she could visit with any of her loved ones. Her spirit was such that she rarely turned down an invitation or opportunity to live and love. She was an extraordinary woman and lived and extraordinary life.The family would like to thank the staff at Ten Broeck Commons for the loving care they provided to Elsie. Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Elsie’s life on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Simpson-Gause Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston N.Y. A Funeral Service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
