Joan M. Oury

Joan M. Oury, RHINEBECK-Joan M. Oury, 84, of Rhinebeck passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Born Sept. 18, 1932 in Queens, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Raymond A. and Monica (Sullivan) Oury. Joan was a executive secretary for NBC and later the Director of Merchandising for Radio City Music Hall in NYC. She relocated to Rhinebeck in 1984 where she became an active volunteer in the community. She gave her time as a docent, active volunteer and board member at the Wilderstein Historic Site, as well as a member of the Rhinebeck Garden Club and volunteer at the Starr Library. Joan was also active for many years at Bard College Life Time Learning Institute (LLI). Joan is survived by her brother Raymond; nephews Kevin, Stephen, Richard, and Thomas; niece Diane Oury; and many close friends in Rhinebeck. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Wilderstein Historic Site, P.O.
