Nicholas Buonfiglio Obituary

SAUGERTIES-Nicholas "Slim" Buonfiglio, 84, of Livingston St. died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck.
A lifetime area resident, he was born Feb. 10, 1929 in Glasco the son of the late John Nicholas and Mildred Zibella Buonfiglio.
He was employed for many years as a carpenter for the New York Telephone Company. One of his first jobs was working at the family owned business, P. Zibella & Sons Cider Mill.
He then served in the Korean Conflict with the U. S. Army and returned home with a Purple Heart Award, a special recognition of his services. Slim enjoyed snow plowing and chatting at the local diners, where all the waitresses knew him.
Survivors include son: John and his wife Cathy of Hurley; three daughters: Barbara Buonfiglio and her fiancé John Runfolo of New Rochelle, Cathy Grollimund and her husband Edward of Middlebury, Conn. and Melissa Morgan of Kingston; four grandchildren: Michelle and Michael Buonfiglio, Jaclyn Meyer and husband Jacob and Michael Willis; mother of his children: Norma Modjeska-Morgan; beloved pal: Jimmy Palumbo. Many cousins also survive.
His Funeral Procession will form 8:15 a.m. Thursday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets, Saugerties thence to St. Joseph's R.C. Church where at 9 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Friends will be received Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Saugerties.

I'm so saddened that Slim has left this life. I always enjoyed hearing about his early days with his family in Glasco. I know so many others also enjoyed his company his sense of humor, his ingenuity and creativity. God bless you Slim and may you be in a better place. You will be missed.
