Robert Dodson had the gift of pulling potential talent out of his charges in the most human way. I knew him as my dean, cello prof ( with an infinite number of editions of the Bach Suites to explore), teaching mentor and principle cellist of the Toronto Radio Orchestra in the 80´s, of which I was member along with my husband Tony, concertmaster. And friend. Rest in Peace.

Dean Dodson (knew him at Lawrence when I was a student) was a wonderful musician and administrator, two qualities I haven't often encountered in higher ed. He was also generous, thoughtful, and dedicated to excellence. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Dean Dodson was the kindest soul walking the corridors of Boston University School of Music. I always admired his gentleness, wisdom and empathy. As Rumi once wrote: "your joy is your sorrow unmasked, the deeper the sorrow carves into your soul, the more joy you can contain". May this time of mourning allow you to carry that joy in the future.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I'll always know him as Dean Dodson from my time at Lawrence University. And will always remember his kindness and understanding when I went through a tough patch my junior year there. My sincerest condolences are with Alberta and all the Dodson family.
