Audrey Hauprich Obituary

Audrey Bopp Hauprich, 97, of Ballston Spa, was called to her heavenly home on December 2, 2022, following a lengthy progressive decline of her health. She passed on in comfort surrounded by family members.

Audrey is fondly remembered as a wife, mother, grandma, and a great friend to many. She was at ease singing the Great American song book, religious music, and festive holiday songs. She had a tremendous sense of humor and was an ambitious recorder of family and church history.

Audrey graduated from Albany High School in 1943. She received her B.A. from Albany State Teachers' College in 1947 and her Master's Degree from SUNY Albany in 1967.

Marrying the love of her life, Donald Hauprich in 1948, she raised their ten children though great childhoods in both Latham and Ballston Spa. She actively engaged the next generation into many of her

interests such as crosswords, scrabble, trivia games, and amazing holidays. A seasoned lifelong educator,

Audrey always made sure of homework being done and was a fabulous proofreader.

Audrey worked as a grade school teacher at the Ballston Spa Malta Elementary School for 18 years. Her teaching career spanned five decades and concluded with her teaching French at several area private elementary schools in the 1980's. Audrey and Donald were long time members of the church choirs of both St. Ambose in Latham and St. Mary's in Ballston Spa.

Audrey is survived by her ten children, Charlene Reese, Timothy Hauprich, Pamela Irish, Ann Hauprich (Cole Broderick), Francis Hauprich, William Hauprich, Christopher Hauprich (Joanne) all from Ballston Spa, Stephen Hauprich (Nancy) of Cicero, Andrew Hauprich (Sharon) of Schenectady, and Mary Reilly (David) of Littleton, NH. The family tree extends through 28 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. A brother, Paul Bopp (Agnes) and a sister in law, Beatrice Bopp, also survive.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, at St. Mary's Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Audrey may be may to St. Mary's Church, 185 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Online remembrance may be made at www.armerfuneralhome.com.

I'm sorry to learn of the passing of Audrey. I'm also sorry to learn that Don had predeceased her, which I was unaware of. My condolences to the Hauprich and Bopp families.

Audrey's paternal grandmother was a younger sister to my Dad's paternal grandmother. I appreciated all of her genealogy help with our shared Dickerman side of the family. I greatly appreciated her taking the time to call and write over the years.

I'll never forget the time that Audrey and Don picked me up at my hotel and drove me straight to a cemetery to do research on one of trips to Albany.

Audrey's mother was also friends with my maternal grandmother, which was nice to know.

Steve...so sorry for your loss. What a legacy your mom left with her family. Never met her but she must have been a kind and giving person because you certainly inherited those traits!

It was my privilege to work with Audrey at Malta Avenue School. She was a kind and giving soul with a beautiful sweet smile. May God grant you many happy memories to comfort you and in time bring you peace.
Deepest condolences,
