Barbara Monte Obituary

Barbara Ann Monte ScotiaBarbara Ann Monte, 75, of Scotia, NY passed away at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 9, 1938 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen nee: Menges Rennie. Barbara was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Scotia High School. Barbara worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Mark H. Aronowitz for many years until her retirement. Survivors include her longtime companion, Carl Kolterman; her two children, Laura (Bill) Dehmer of Alplaus and John (Kimberly) Monte of Albany; four grandchildren, Johnathan and Drew Cassidy and Laura (Steve) Beyer, Nicholas Monte and Laura, and Nicholas' mother, Kathleen Malizia; Carl's daughters, Carolyn Kolterman-Fall, Kathleen Sutherland and Karen Kolterman; many close friends including, Myra Connolley and Elaine Carlin and her beloved cat, Jeramiah Johnson. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her dear friend, Barbara Verruto. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308. To express condolences visit www.sbfuneralhome.com. I was so very sorry to hear about your Mom's sudden passing. Growing up on Pershing Dr. there were certain families that had kids my age and we grew up together. John, your mom was always such a nice lady to all of us kids...Please know your entire family is in my prayers at this difficult time!!

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom, she truly was a woman of grace and love. She will be forever missed. I have such wonderful memories of her and what John and I put her through as we were growing up and she was always so gentle and patient. My hearts go out to your family.
