CATHERINE F. NARDI

Catherine F. Nardi, 95, of Frank Street, passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2010. Catherine was born in Schenectady in 1915, a daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena Friello. She was a high school graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She was employed by the Maqua Company for 20 years, and later as a clerk for the Department of Labor for the State of New York, retiring in 1983. Catherine enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tending her garden, baking for the holidays, and enjoyed making crafts. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors and the Mt. Carmel Women's Society, and a member of the CSEA. Catherine was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Schenectady. She is survived by her two children, Richard A. Nardi and his wife, Valera of Charlton, NY, and Marianne Bucci and her husband, Carmen of Rotterdam Jct. Catherine also leaves behind her grandchildren, Rosanne (Thomas) Toohey of Mayfield, Richard (Lisa) Nardi Jr. of Scotia, W. Darrin (Melinda) Nardi of Green Castle, PA, and Michele Doane of Rotterdam Jct.; seven great- grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; one brother, Alphonse (Grace) Friello of Winterhaven, FL, and one brother-in-law, Robert (Veronica) Nardi of Rotterdam, and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Nardi in 1993; a granddaughter, JoAnne Bucci in 1974, and a grandson, Thomas Bucci in 1964; brothers, Ralph, Anthony, and Nicholas Friello, and her sisters, Grace Stepp, Constance Balducci, and Mary Capuano. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc., 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 8:15 a.m. Immediately following, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Schenectady. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Brandywine Ave., Schenectady. Memorial donations may be made in Catherine's memory to Mt. Carmel Church.
